Pipe is available in lengths of 2.4m, 6.5m or 7.2m. 40mm diameter extra light galvanised pipe is used for fence posts for brushwood fencing up to 1.8m in height. For brushwood fencing over 2.1m a larger diameter post is required. 50mm diameter gal pipe can be used for fencing and screens up to 3.6m high.If the fence is exposed to high wind conditions the posts may have to be 60 or 70mm in diameter and may require other bracing. Posts can be coredrilled into rock, concrete or other masonry surfaces. For soil dig a footing 400mm deep and ram the post into the ground below the footing for the best results. Fill the footing with concrete and leave overnight to set. 20mm diameter medium grade galvanised pipe is used as a top rail or spacer bar for brushwood fencing. The top bar is cut in between the posts and held in place with a wire twist or tek screw. The top bar should be 200mm below the tops of the posts. A second spacer bar is required if the fence height exceeds 1.8m. This bar should be fixed halfway down the fence.
